The Royal Highland Show 2019 returns to Edinburgh from Thursday 20th June to Sunday 23rd June 2019 to celebrate its 179th year as one of Scotland’s most iconic events. The Royal Highland show is a fantastic day out for all ages and has something for everyone with shopping, competitions, delicious treats and live music.
We’ve put together a guide of some of the best activities happening this year:
Royal Highland Show Grand Parade
The Grand Parade is hugely popular and the Grandstand fills up quickly in the afternoons of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. These prize-winning cattle can be seen to gracefully wind their way across the Main Ring headed-up by young people carrying display boards that bear the names of the breeds they are leading. If you don’t know your Belted Galloways from your Belgian Blues then this is a very rare opportunity to see so many different breeds at one time.
Scotland’s Larder Live!
Scotland’s Larder Live! on 13th Avenue is a must-see for all Foodies and a great place to sample some of the best food and drink around. Discover artisan producers and enjoy some tasty treats from superb vendors.
Enjoy tasty treats from hundreds of exhibitors and celebrate food provenance, regionality and seasonality.
RHET Discovery Centre
The Discovery Centre offers an education programme for children of all ages, including cooking workshops, live demonstrations and lots more! Back once more, is the RHET Tram Trail Challenge in partnership with Edinburgh Trams, with an iPad up for grabs!
Royal Highland Show Music
Enjoy a packed programme of music and entertainment from everything from pop to pipes, ceilidh to choirs and a well-known voice or two!
